I used to come here almost daily. Used to go to T Dance every Sunday. Have'nt been here lately, which is a shame. The bars in this area(Lafittes,Oz,Good Friends and The Clover Grill) you can STILL SAFELY WALK TO) which is liberating.

I make no apologies for the fact that I am a gay man of a certain age. That has obvious disadvantages in the "only young people matter" gay mindset, but I'm not offended, as I thought the same way in my day. Being older (and also a survivor) does, however, gives me certain privileges, and, most of all, perspective. From 88' to 90', I lived in New Orleans (in the GD), and spent alot of time in the Quarter, and there were a number of bars, restuarants, and other unmemtionalbes, that I frequented, with the Bourbon Pub, being the nexus, and center of all my activities. I would branch out from the Pub all over the Quarter. It may be just me, but I have an inclination to space, and the Pub provided space. You could walk around the bar, and have three different conversation going on, all at the same time. The Pub is set up for conversation, it's hard to just sit on a stool at 11:00 AM, and not want to talk. The action, surprisingly, is organizied around people speaking to people. And, of course, with all the video screen about, the excuse is even evident.
But, of course, these are all remembrances of the good days, before Katrina, when everything changed. I returned to New Orleans, for the first time, on business some weeks back, and I was pleased that the Pub, was still there, doing what it has always done for generations - giving the Quarter a focus, and an excuse for a very good time. Be it during the day (for the older men), or in the evening (for the young people), the Bourbon Pub has always given the (gay) Quarter it's gentle center. The one thing that is so neat about the Quarter, is that you can just get up an walk around. In this, the Quarter is very much like it's Parisian mentors, you just move from cafe to cafe, and back again. The Pub has changed a little, and yet, it has remain exactly what it is - a Place for a Very Good Time.

Even at my age, I always feel comfortable at this crown jewel of the french quarter. Great staff and atmoshere smack-dab in the middle of it all. The perfect place to view and be viewed........

The corner of Bourbon and St Ann is the spot for gay nightlife in the Quarter. Oz - a bit younger crowd - is directly across the street so you can cruse from the opposing balconies. A good mix of people - we're in our 40s and feel right at home. The place to be during Decadence.

Yeah this was the delightful and decadent vortex I kept being sucked back into after exploring other places. Just so much Variety! I saw some incredible drag numbers and danced until it wasn't my birthday anymore!

This bar has brought me many great times! I get to NOLA several times a year and always have a blast at the Pub! The bar is always packed but you are still able to get your drink on. The first floor is a large video bar that has great clips and videos. It is always fun and full of happy people. The second floor is the dance bar with a lounge area in the rear. They ussually have dancers for you who like that and the music is always pumping. Overall, this bar is the gay bar of New Orleans. You have two floors to choose from and that option gives you the feeling that you have two different clubs. Oz across the street is fun too but overall, your best time will probably be at The Bourbon Pub /Parade, it just has more to offer. BTW, the bartenders know customer service! Get back to New Orleans, there is no city in the world like it.

Great place to "get your britney on". Lots of fun. Hot boys and great music. Another place I'll be back to visit. Napoleon's across the street has some hot bartenders too!

OK.. It's a staple of New Orleans Gay Life.. I can't even count the nights I've been all spilled out in the Pub/Parade. It's one of those places that you will see every ex boyfriend you've ever had, but don't hold that against them.. Definitely a must visit.

Along with Oz, it's one of two anchors at the gay corner--Bourbon and St. Anne. For Mardi Gras or Southern Decadence, you may have to pay a cover at night for Parade (upstairs). Bring (or earn) lots of beads to reward flashers on the street from its famous balconies. Fun, young, cute, boozy crowd on major weekends. OK other times. Hot dancers and bar tenders.
