All of the bartenders here are incredible, love chatting with each one! Even on busy nights, they always have time for a smile, and always remember my drink (at least after the first)!

this place is always busy, if you want to talk and hang- meet guys the music isn't loud enough so you can carry a conversation with out hurting your talented throat

I do not know when the people with the other reviews visited, but I have been for Carnival ad Decadence and always enjoyed this bar. I really enjoyed the dancers upstairs. They seem to do a LOT more than the ones downstairs.

I lived in New Orleans when the Good Friends opened in 88-89', and I enjoyed it immensely, because it was a gay bar where grownups could go and have a delightful happy hour. I admit I haven't been back to the City, until recently, since long after Katrina, and I really didn't know what to expect. But, when I recently arrived for early happy hour, I was taken aback, except for a few cosmetic change over the years, the bar was essentially as I remember it. The staff (which is the most important element of any bar) was on the ball & looking very nice indeed. And, the clientete was cleaned up, as well. I enjoyed my self wonderfully for the next 3 hours. Then I, in good "New'lans'" fashion, mosied on down to the "Pub", and beyond. This, until I hit my room at the Monteleone (another great tradition). I once knew a teetoteller, who lived in my building in the GD, so far as I know the man never left his apartment. In NO, what's a teetoller to do? It's all very sad to contemplate..
New Orleans, in general & the Quarter, in particular, are a precious jewels in the cultural & economic life of our country, and every effort should be made to help rehabilitate one of America's great treasures.

This place was nothing to write home about. Only went there once on this trip, but I'm sure that had something to do with how bland it was. Drinks were over priced. Cute bar...just wish there were cute guys too.

A great spot to meet up with friends before heading out to
dinner or a night of clubbing. You will find all ages, and all size wallets, all are welcome. Just a block from Bourbon and St. Ann, the center of gay NOLA. Stop in and make some new good friends.

I was visiting from Fort Lauderdale, FL and was drawn to "Good Friends" because of its promising name. However, it was anything but friendly. The bartender was abrasive and rude. I didn't even get to order a first drink before I felt compelled to leave the negative atmosphere. Fortunately, the rest of my experience in New Orleans was an amazing/fun time!! I definitely recommend the Bourbon Pub, Oz, and Napoleon's Itch.....the bartenders/atmospheres were great! Have a good time guys!

Great/Cheap drinks.. Gets a little dirty upstairs on holidays/special events. Not a great place to hang, though..
So, what do you say?
