The Big Easy Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence (Parish of The Muddy Waters) would like to welcome everyone who is coming to Exequator this weekend!
As many of you know that on Saturday October 10th 2015 we will be having our Exequatur ceremony. This ceremony celebrates our official authorization of becoming a house of the famous international activist, community service, and outreach organization: The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence®.
The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence® is a leading-edge order of queer nuns. Since their first appearance in San Francisco on Easter Sunday, 1979, the Sisters have devoted themselves to community service, ministry and outreach to those on the edges, and to promoting human rights, respect for diversity and spiritual enlightenment. Our Parish (Abbey) was formed under this noble mission, and is comprised of people of all gender associations, all spiritual affiliations, and all proclivities who seek to do good works. We are dedicated to the promulgation of universal joy and the expiation of stigmatic guilt (say that fast 7 times).
Beginning at 430 p.m. Saturday October 10th, The Exequatur starts at Grand Pre’s (834 N Rampart St.) with a traditional New Orleans Second Line brass band parade. Revelers will be heralded throughout the French Quarter by the sounds of The Mighty Muddy Brass Band. Our Second Line rolls to the ceremony held at Oz New Orleans (800 Bourbon St.).
“The Big Easy Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence would like to thank, and invite, our many supporters to this milestone event in the history of The Big Easy Sisters. This accomplishment was truly a House effort. We are unstoppable working together.” Sister Cathi Terr (Abbess, The Big Easy Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence)
“New Orleans may ask who are those clown nuns and the answer is they are your Big Easy Sisters New Orleans. They are in you and you are in them” Sister Diarrhée En Frank (It’s French)
We welcome and invite everyone (in your best costumed glory, please) to join us in celebration with our Second Line parade and the ceremony afterwards. No matter who you are -- suit-up and join in the fun! Dress code is: Dress To Express.
