Synopsis: A milestone of the 20th Century Stage, Hansberry’s critically acclaimed masterpiece tells the story of the Youngers, an African-American family struggling to hang on to their dreams amidst the growing racial, social, and generational divide of Chicago’s Southside in the late 1950’s. The tale of their fight to keep the family intact while striving to forge a new identity in a rapidly changing world around them helped spark the Civil Rights Movement, and has since ascended A RAISIN IN THE SUN to the pantheon of great works of American Drama.
The production staff includes: scene design by James Means, lighting and sound design by Tom Dawson, and costume design by Jerry L. Johnson.
A RAISIN IN THE SUN is written by Lorraine Hansberry and directed by Michael Santos. The play will be performed by students from Delgado’s Theatre Program.
