Bourgoyne Guest House

(3 Ratings)
Eclectic and relaxed on Bourbon St
People who stay here talk about it having "personality" and "marching to the beat of a different drum," so if you're looking for something with a lot of character that's a bit off the beaten path, you might check this place out.

2011 visit

We stayed in the Bourgoyne Guest House based its location and in part on the reviews. The particular room we stayed in was a studio in the back part of the guest house. We are seasoned travelers and we realize that a room in an old structure is not going to be as spacious or have all the conveniences of a modern hotel and we adjusted our expectations accordingly. Upon arrival we found the room was fairly spacious and the furniture was indeed mostly antique; however, the room was poorly maintained. For example, the rug was stained and dirty. We found a vacuum in one of the closets and tried to vacuum the rug. The vacuum was broken and we later determined that the broken vacuum was being used to clean the rooms. Other details that were not acceptable included paint that was peeling, the hot water faucet dripped, you could not shower if someone below our room was showering, and the bed sagged even before we got in it. On a closing note, the payment process is somewhat unusual; you have to go to the business next door and have them swipe your credit card. Your credit card shows the other business name and not the Bourgoyne Guest House.

Comfy place to land

No frills but definately convenient, cozy, and comfortable. Slept great even with street noises.

Newlywed

Everytime I step into the Bourgoyne courtyard I feel like I'm home! Everytime we stop in New Orleans it's were we stay. I love the owners, rooms, and atmosphere.
