The "Community Kitchen" of the Marigny

This is "the family kitchen" for the Marigny neighborhood. Waiters and clients usually know each other, and many if not most, are gay. But, the stars like it too. Alec Baldwin winked at me here from his table when he caught me staring at his long eyelashes :-) It's good, Southern, New Orleans comfort food. Daily specials every day, and full bar. Great shrimp po-boys served on that great local French bread. Sometimes the waiters are a bit campy-- just adding to the fun experience. Open 24 hours Thursday through Monday. (Closed Tuesday and Wednesday.) (By the way, La Peniche means "the barge" in French, as some walls are made of wood from barges coming down the Mississippi River, which were disassembled once they arrived and used to build homes.)
