Founded in 2013, the Down River Festival is a free celebration of the music, culture and cuisine of New Orleans, so heavily influenced by the Mississippi River and its connection to the world. This year with music on the lawn of the Old U.S. Mint and a theme of rum and sugar for the lectures and food demonstrations, a full day of celebration will take place on September 12th. The free lectures and music will be featured at the Old U.S. Mint with food demonstrations at the French Market.
