According to Southern Decadence founder Robert Laurent, “Cheers to Southern Decadence! What began in 1972 as an end-of-summer party among a small group of friends has transformed itself into a Quarter-wide weekend celebration. The first costume party was a farewell to Michael Evers, who was leaving New Orleans. Now, 41 years later, his spirit, wit and sense of frivolity continue, transformed into a celebration of Laissez les bon temps rouler!”

What
Cheap 24hr booze, amazing food, and hot dudes of all types. What could go wrong? It's a rad time, and NOLA is a fun mess of a city.
There are hundreds of events happening during the week of Southern Decadence, featuring famous DJs from around the world, drag brunches and performances, dance events like Horsemeat Disco, and lots more.
Where
The entire city gets in on the action! LGBTQ+ bars, restaurants, and other venues from the Lower Garden District to the Bywater will host a variety of events. The intersection of St. Ann and Bourbon streets will be high traffic all weekend and they shut down the street for a giant concert on Saturday afternoon.
The biggest events will be the Beer Bust at the Phoenix, the street concert in front of Napoleon’s Itch, and the parade on Sunday that winds through the French Quarter passing most of the gay bars.
Depending on the area you spend the most time will determine the crowd you are looking for. The Phoenix and The Silver Fox will draw a more leather crowd. The Oz and The Bourbon Pub will draw more of a younger party crowd.
Also, check out The Country Club for their drag brunch and pool parties.
When
Labor Day Weekend, baby!
