Grand opening of the Grand Maltese Gallery and its sister business Bywater Framing, featuring artwork from Andrew Lamar Hopkins and James Heraclitus Wall. Come see the new space, two incredible local artists work and partake in libations. Andrew LaMar Hopkins is a self-taught historical folk artist and Antiques Dealer. Fascinated with history, architecture, antiques and art at a early age, Hopkins creates Historically accurate detail paintings of 18th & 19th century interiors & exteriors. James Heraclitus Wall is a native New Orleanian who makes mixed media works on paper and canvas. His work attempts to convey emotional and psychological highs lows and quirks in an absurd humorous and almost cartoonish way. He deals with a uniquely contemporary mix of themes like grief, ennui, ecstasy, dispossession, overconsumption, and apathy.
